Virtumonde Still Affecting Computers

Trojans are but type of virus. They will infect your system pretending to be some good softwares. Once inside a computer, those Trojans will start diverse malicious activities that will range from doing over and over some advertizement about some product/service, up to slowing down your computer a lot. It is then very important to protect your computer from those viruses (Trojans). Here Zlob you will find more about how to remove Zlob.

Virtumonde, or also known as Vundo, is also a Trojan. This malicious application is primarily a Trojan that advertises fake malware applications. In recent times, experts have claimed that Virtumonde is no longer a threat to users. However, it has resurfaced and Virtumonde is still affecting computers. Your computer system will be infected via spam emails (to which it will come attached to them) or via any weakness part of your browser (like those found in plugins). Check here how to remove Virtumonde to learn more about Virtumonde removal, and here Vundo removal about how to remove Vundo virus.

Virtumonde will get downloaded from one of these sources and install itself in the user’s directory, making some registry changes in the process. Once set up, this program (Virtumonde) will install a BHO (Browser Helper Object) that will redirect your web browser’s to fake websites full of more threats. Virtumonde also blatantly promotes fake malware applications through browser pop-ups. It may also replace the desktop background with a warning message that says that the user’s computer is heavily infected with malware and that he or she should immediately go to the specified website and download the recommended anti-malware, which is in fact a fake application.

Virtumonde also replaces the screensaver with the feared ‘Windows Blue Screen’ along with a block of text which tells the user that their computer is affected with viruses and advises them to immediately download and install the ‘anti-malware’ that is specified. If the computer user falls for this trap and start downloading this fake software (it is but a fake anti-spyware program): you might be scared to buy the “full” version of this program that will result in you losing money. All of that will give you more than enough proof that Virtumonde is still affecting computers.

This spyware (Virtumonde) is a kind of malware. You should threat this spyware as such and should protect yourself against it at all times by using ways to remove it from your computer as soon as you do detect it. The best way you can do that is to use some good antivirus program that will scan your computer system and protect it. If you take care enough of your PC, this Trojan won’t affect it even if Virtumonde is affecting lots of PC.
