Your New Computer Could Be Your Old Computer, Just A Bit Better

It doesn’t matter if you’re using a desktop PCs or laptops, eventually you will want to either replace them or get hold of some additional hardware such as a new hard drive, wifi card or external memory drive.

While it might be tempting to buy a brand new computer the reality is somewhat less exciting. Your computer will run faster it’s true, however you’ll spend days getting it to work like your old computer, sure you’ll have a different desktop picture and frame layout but you’ll end up spending ages fiddling with mouse options, getting to understand how things that are supposed to be helpful are actually an irritation. Whoever suggested the idea for that pop-up paperclip that ‘talks’ to you as you’re trying to do something should be run out of town on a rail. I’ve never come across anyone who wasn’t made to feel both patronised and confused; not only is this little character intrusive it’s also frequently wrong.

If you’re familiar and usually happy with the way your computer runs then I would recommend that instead of buying a new one, it might be a better idea to improve the equipment you already have. That way you’ll keep hold of everything that you like and are used to about your computer except that you’ll see an impressive increase in the speed of processing when you try and do things. Downloads take no time at all, startimg and closing programmes and applications is much quicker too. If you keep all of your media such as music, movies and photos on an external drive you will free space on your hard drive, space that’s required to open and manage all the programmes that you use.

Another way of increasing your computer’s speed and agility is to regularly perform a disk clean up, by doing this you automatically sort all of your documents that weren’t saved properly or have been adjusted or corrupted away where they belong, rationalise file locations and generally just tidy things up and put them away properly.
