What Technology Will Replace LCD TVs?

May 12th, 2010 No comments

I remember our huge CRT television we had in the front room, I used to think that was as good as a TV could get, even if the back of it stuck out literally 2 feet! Then the plasma TV erupted onto the market and turned it on its head with a TV that was so slim you could actually hang it on the wall. Finally LCD TVs came out and started to compete with the plasma ones, and HDTV came onto the scene recently too, so where are we going now?

A recent development has been the use of LEDs for the backlighting of an LCD TV, previously they used CCFLs (cold cathode fluorescent lamps) which are bulky compared to LEDs. There are two versions of this technology, one where the LEDs go all the way across the back of the screen, which is the best way, or one where the LEDs are at the side and the light is directed to where it is needed, either way you get a TV much slimmer than the CCFL versions.

Just starting to emerge now are the 3DTVs, although that technology is still in its infancy so the reaction has not been that good at the moment. The concept of 3D television is excellent, and I have seen firsthand how powerful 3D movies can be, but at the moment you have to wear funny glasses that make it less usable. The ‘active shutter’ glasses currently being used give you a strange flickering effect you have to look through, and reports suggest the 3D effect doesn’t work when you sit more than a few feet away from the TV.

Remember these are the first generation of 3DTVs though, so the people who like to have the newest toys will buy these models, then the rest of us will wait for them to improve the technology and buy the later versions of them. There are one or two companies working on commercial applications of 3D viewing without having to wear glasses, so hopefully that will filter down into our TVs soon.

OLEDs (organic light emitting diodes) are something to watch out for, but at the moment they are stuck with screens no bigger than about 13 inches in size. They are still working on it though to make larger screens which we can have in our homes, but if they do crack the current problems then the resulting TV will be just millimeters thick! So the future of TV is certainly interesting, I can’t wait to see what things will be like in 5 years time…

If you want a huge 55 inch LCD TV while you wait for 3D TV to take off, then consider the Samsung UN55B6000 which is really popular at the moment.

Where Do I Find The Cheapest Broadband?

May 10th, 2010 No comments

limiter> Your search for a more affordable bandwidth solution puts you in with tens of jillions of others. And like you, none of them wants to give up on speed for a lower prices. And that’s really the issue here…what can you get for the lowest price???

It can be frustrative if you pick out the wrong broadband supplier due to bad customer service or hidden costs. Luckily, broadband is everywhere. There are over 20 providers ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous. We have made good broadband comparisons for you.And we are also here to tell you that you can find the cheapest broadband and that it is quite good!

The good news that with so many broadband providers it means that we have cheap broadband offers in plentiful supply. If you’re new to broadband then you’ll want the cheapest broadband Internet account and probably a wireless thrown in. If you already have broadband then you better check if you are tied into a contract. If you are and you break the contract you may be charged a fine for leaving that broadband provider.

When choosing the best Internet account you will want to look into the following things:

Speed – 8MBps (megabytes per second) is about as fast as you are going to get and you really don’t need any higher than this. If you are just doing web browsing and not downloading music or films then go for something a bit lower that 8MBs, you could probably get away with an Internet account that is only 1MBps.

Download limit – Most Internet accounts will have a download limit. The smallest will usually start at 1GB, going up to unlimited bandwidth. Data is only used up when you are surfing the net or downloading files. 1GB will mean you can view around 25,000 web pages.

Yes, there are other factors involved, but really you are looking for this speed versus limit counterbalance.

If you are looking actively for the cheapest broadband, you will find it, but just make sure it fits into your needs on these and other requirements depending on how active you are with your internet needs.

Why use HP Toner Cartridges?

May 9th, 2010 No comments

In today’s world of ever changing technology it is hard to even begin to explain how HP has come out on top as the world’s premier printer provider. Often it bewilders most people absent the knowledge nor history of going on’s through back door deals, incentives and marketing schemes to gobble up market share.

For me it is fairly easy being exposed to the industry for over 22 years and the results are astounding when you sit back and look at the evolution of the industry. Standing back and observing the embroiled battles fought in the corporate world amuses me. From time to time I will engage in the lessons handed out to companies through better advertising practices.I have always establish that small businesses can react and return larger corporations advertising campaigns faster because of the politics that are involved at the corporate levels. But to listen to someone tell the tale of why HP Toner Cartridges are used more widely than any other cartridge on the market is almost unimaginable. I assure you that before the end of this article you will be happy, outraged and even sold on how all of this has come about.

At the inception of the laser printer there was a fight from the get go between 2 companies, IBM and Xerox for jump to market printers. Yes there were other companies like Epson, Minolta and others but not so much a force in the laser industry at that time. For IBM it was to get customers to use laser printers and their supplies for Xerox there name was based on copiers and they wanted to add laser printers to most of their customers. IBM basically was a computing device company while Xerox had reinforced its name on copiers. vantage IBM. So Xerox went on to advance littler more personal copiers while IBM started pumping out laser printers.

Arising quickly problems had to be overcome. First and foremost IBM got into several lawsuits involving smaller remanufacturers making cartridges for their printers. This was not interpreted lightly by IBM and ultimately ended up in the supreme court where IBM lost and the Magnusm Moss act was passed whereas companies could not product link. (Sell one product and require you to buy only their other supporting product).

Out of frustration with the legal system and the loss of suplemental income struck a deal with Lexmark to take over the printer division.Lexmark was the first company to introduce the lockout chip. When remanufacturers started duplicating the chips and making the Lexmark cartridges once again Lexmark sued the whole industry in a $13 million copyright infringement lawsuit.

Enter HP who also was in the process of making the computer chips and installing them on their cartridges. But HP was doing this process not to lock out the competition but as an alternative was using the technology to help advise to the consumer of the toner levels and other to the point(p)information about the cartridge. Stepping into the remanufacturing industry arena only as an advisor capacity HP assisted and partnered, to a certain extent with the legalities and issues being pursued by Lexmark in the court of law. The result was Lexmark lost it’s case in court and the remanufacturers agreed to promote HP printers and supplies. The beginning for HP and the demise of Lexmark. At the time all of this was taking place HP had massed a market share of about 70% and Lexmark had 8% and everyone else was fighting for their share of the remaining 22%.

And so it goes each manufaturer has highly-developed a design of printer that utilizes specific cartridges.Lexmark has upped the lockout feature making it nearly impossible to duplicate. IBM has Lexmark build their machines while Brother has seperated their cartridges into 2 parts the toner cartridge and the drum cartridge increasing its supplies and yielding higher profits. Samsung, well cheap would be an understatement for the machine whiles supplies are costly and cut a deal solely with Office Depot the #2 office supply store in the US. Dell tried to help Lexmark by giving away a low cost printer with every computer but quickly found computer customers weren’t excited about the cost of cartridges.HP well they went to the top when they found a way to get Staples the worlds biggest office supply store to agree to remove their remanufactured cartridges in exchange for all the profit of HP printer sales along with rebate payments from HP on every machine they sell and to accumulate all of the discharge cartridges they can in an effort to preclude remanufacturers from having the ability to compete. Oh yea and Staples has HP Toner available just about cheaper than any other vendor is allowed to sell it at. (By contract from HP or they will remove you as a vendor.)

All in all HP is the most prefered printer for a cause. It’s easier to setup and use. They have by far the best english speaking support staff and the technology and availability is by far the best. Cartridges are readily available most anywhere. They promote recycling but try not to boost remanufacturing. (loss of profit is not acceptable)  As of this article 85% of all printers in use today are HP and as a result for the first time in HP’s history the printer division specifically drew in the majority of profit through sales of HP printer supplies in the first fourth of 2010. One can only assure that with the push by HP to make color laserjet impression more affordable for home use and the fact that the machine takes 4 cartridges the bulk of HP’s profit is going to come from selling HP Laserjet Toner.

May 8th, 2010 No comments

Music is a great technique to both fight stress and get some entertainment. While many folks enjoy listening to it, there are a whole lot of men and women who just like to create the beats themselves. The most crucial component of the music is the beats. The beat is the basic time unit of the music and it commonly means the entire instrumental and non-vocal part of the music. The beats give the song its feel and the rhythm and hence make listening to music an great experience.

The very first factor when it comes to making beats is to determine the genre the music is going to be of and hence determine the beats appropriately. One crucial element of the beats is to have a smooth flow with the ongoing music, and for this reason the beats should encompass the music and complement it. Important factors of the beats like the drums and the synthetic drums should be considered first, because if the drums portion of the beats is weak, the overall standard of the music will drop.

In earlier days, the music composers had to invest several hours attempting to picture the sound track with their beats in their mind and then get them tested with the orchestra. This made the music creation extremely costly and to an extent exclusive to the folks who could afford both the money and the talent to get the tunes made and tested.

However, with the arrival of the information age, a lot of items are available on the beat maker software which would in any other case take years of practice to gain expertise and also huge pieces of equipment to provide the data. Additionally a lot of this beat maker software comes with a tremendous amount of predefined beats and instruments, which can be loaded and then modified in accordance to the dynamics of the tune involved.
