Applications for the Motorola ATRIX 4G

June 9th, 2011 No comments

Portable gaming has come a long way in just a few years. Now, the newest smart phones, such as the Motorola Atrix 4G, are just as powerful as dedicated handheld consoles. This article will discuss how good mobile gaming with the Atrix 4G is. This article will also discuss how users can take full advantage of mobile gaming.

The Android OS is perfect for gaming because all of the Android-based devices are capable of handling mobile gaming. The ATRIX 4G by Motorola is one of the few smart phones that stands out. Not only can this dual-core beast play any Android game on the market smoothly, it even has a wide range of Motorola Atrix accessories available specifically geared toward making it an even better gamer. In this article, we’ll take a close look at gaming on the new Motorola Atrix 4G, and we’ll consider some of the way that you can maximize your experience.

In addition to a spec sheet that will cause you to geek out, the Atrix has a built-in charger that allows the battery to remain fully charged when you’ve connected it to a compatible laptop docking station. A separate charger is required unless you separate the devices. In addition, the default battery is only 1930mAh, so most gamers and power users will want to consider upgrading to an enhanced Motorola Atrix battery. You may even include a 1930mAh battery in there to be a spare.

The dock station works like a fully functional sync-charger, but the coolest aspect of this laptop integration is that you can actually output the Atrix display to the laptop. What this means for gaming is that you have access to a larger screen, and can also uses any controllers supported by the laptop. There’s a lot of versatility here being able to connect your Atrix and PC/Mac laptop so seamlessly. The one thing you’re going to have to watch for is that you don’t choose a Motorola Atrix case that interferes with the docking station. That is not a huge problem but it is something to watch out for.

Of course, you don’t need the Atrix connected to the laptop for it to be a capable gamer. It works quite well as a handheld. And since it has the 1000MHz dual-core NVidia Tegra CPU inside, it can run all of the mobile games out there. NVidia is designing some specifically for this CPU, games that won’t run at all on lesser capable smart phones. When used as a handheld gamer, we found the steering wheel disc-style accessories to be particularly convenient. These relatively inexpensive accessories look like small, lightweight Frisbees, and they hold the Atrix at the center of the disc. The outter ring is used to game rather than having to turn the phone side to side. It’s quite nice for gamers with big hands.

But the Atrix really shines most when using the dock because it takes advantage of the laptop battery. Even when you’re out and about and don’t have access to a wall outlet, it’s still a big improvement using the laptop battery because of how much longer you can game without the hassle of switching batteries and charging them. So if you’re looking for a gaming-capable smart phone, take a long, hard look at the new Motorola Atrix.
